Hair Growth Inhibitors
Importance of Removing Hair Growth Inhibitors from Your Diet
These days, even the healthiest eaters are subject to not getting the recommended amount of vitamins and minerals. Add to that the fact that hair-growth inhibitors are consumed or engaged in regularly by the average person, and you have a reason for
slow growing hair.
When we talk about hair growth inhibitors, we are talking about various substances or activities which actually prevent hair from growing at its optimum speed. Many people have emailed me with amazing results after having removed some or all of these
hair growth inhibitors from their lifestyle:
Smoking – Now I know what you’re thinking. What the heck does smoking have to do with hair growth? Sorry to burst your bubble if you’re a smoker, but studies have shown that smoking has a secondary effect on hair growth because it deprives the body of oxygen flow. It
also constricts blood vessels, which prevents hair follicles from growing hair at its optimum speed. In fact, smokers who end up quitting sometimes are astonished by how their hair changes in
terms of thickness, softness, and growth speed.
Drinking Alcohol – Alcohol, when consumed, actually lowers Vitamin C, Vitamin B, zinc, and folic acid levels in the body. This essentially turns into a deficiency of these vitamins in the body, which prevents fast hair growth.
Sugar – Sugar is a HUGE hair growth inhibitor. Cutting down on sugar is vital to optimizing your hair-growth. Sugar breaks down proteins which actually result in aging of the skin. And since your hair follicles are part of your skin, they are secondarily affected as a result. In addition, the more refined/processed sugar you consume, the more insulin your body will produce, slowing your hair-growth speed. As a matter of fact, sugar has been shown to play a key role in people who are actually struggling with
hair loss. So just avoid it at all costs. This includes drinking sodas.
Fatty foods – Fatty foods limit how fast hair growth occurs in the follicles. Avoid them at all costs, and try to remove them from your diet whenever
possible. Stress – Stress is a huge factor that comes into play with many people and their hair growth. Studies have shown that stress causes toxins in the body to accumulate, as well as shrinks blood vessels. This leads to a diminished blood supply flowing to the scalp and hair follicles.
Caffeine – Caffeine is a substance which actually has benefits and negative side effects when it comes to hair growth. Once thought to only inhibit hair growth, continuous research has shown that this is false. In fact, Caffeine has actually been identified as a human hair
growth stimulator, which is quite ironic. Some brands of shampoo even contain caffeine concentrations or solutions which have been proven to stimulate the hair follicles in the scalp. The negative side effect to caffeine however is that like alcohol it can decrease the levels of certain vital nutrients in the body needed for optimizing hair growth. It also plays a part in dehydrating the body of water. Therefore, I personally have cut caffeine out of my diet because of this, and have received great personal results.
Lack of Sleep – Hair growth occurs mostly during sleep, peaking about four hours after rest. Therefore, it is important to maximize the amount of sleep you get per day, since it is needed to help grow hair faster.
Lack of Exercise – Exercising, believe it or not, dramatically can help hair growth speed, because it can drive more blood to your scalp, and also cleans it as well. A lack of exercise can actually stunt your optimal hair growth
cycles. Lack of Hydration – You need to drink about eight glasses of water a day to optimize your hair growth speed. It is vital that you keep your body hydrated. Reproduction of cells is dependent on water and can directly impact your
hair. If any of the above hair growth inhibitors apply to your lifestyle or diet, do something about it! I have been contacted by people who have experienced great results, by removing one, two, or all of these hair-growth "blockers" from their daily lives. Many times, removing these is all that is needed to receive optimal hair growth. Find out what’s affecting you in particular, and work on changing it. You will be surprised with the results.
